Chapter 3, 9, 10 Reflection!

It is incredible how in so such a short period of time, we have done so much. Our class started on June 1st, after a month of rest, in which we were preparing for upcoming semester and dealing the current situation that is affecting everyone. This is critical time for us students, yet we keep going forward no matter what. We keep going no matter what and that is what we are doing in our class. Since, only two days after we started this new course, we came together as groups and presented the chapters that were assigned to us by our professor. We worked together in order to prepare a wonderful presentation, worthy of this course and when the moment came, we throve. Every group showed their skills and managed to capture our professor’s attention and expressed their points clearly.

The presentations were divided into three groups, each of them in charge of presenting a different chapter of our course. Group 1 presented chapter 3; group 2 presented chapter 9; and chapter 10 was presented by group 3. Each member of each group studied and researched about their parts in order to successfully express their points of view.

Group 1 presented about intercultural communication, showing us how culture has a significant impact on society and how people interact with each other. Depending on the culture, people behave in a certain way. For example, in the United States of America, a country with a multi-cultured society, people tend to be behave depending either if they are from a Hispanic culture or North American one. Additionally, other factors as gender, sex, age, disabilities, and religion affect the communication among people in a society. And, even though their presentation was not perfect, they effectively conveyed the topic and their opinions.

Then, group 2 presented about communication in groups, such as families, interest groups, support groups, virtual groups, social groups, etc., and how the work together as teams in order to achieve a mutual goal. They interact together as a family and distribute the tasks they need to complete for them to complete their goal. And, of course, these groups always need to be synergetic, meaning that everyone works equally and a balance regarding the work that has to be done is established. In my opinion, group 2 presented this topic very well, giving lots of examples, making it easier to understand the content of this chapter.

Finally, group 3 talked about group leadership and problem solving. They talked about how important leadership is in order for a group to success, because, without any guidance from a leader, a group could not be able to complete all of their tasks in time and member would argue among each other. Also, problem solving is really important as well, which can be done in meetings, where all members of a group come together to solve said problem. And, just like the other groups, group 3 did not stay behind and presented very well their topic.
